Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how The Tavern Bot (“the Bot”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and stores information when you use our Discord features, including Community Tower, the crate request system, Westward Bound, and other Tavern minigames.
1. Who operates this bot
The Bot is operated by The Tavern community project. For privacy questions or data requests, contact the bot owner through The Tavern Discord server.
2. Information we collect
When you interact with the Bot, we may store:
- Discord identifiers: your user ID, username/display name, and guild (server) ID where the Bot is used.
- Community Tower: in-game progress such as floors built, coins, XP, level, inventory, boss participation, pets, professions, prestige/season stats, and leaderboard-related activity.
- Crate system: crate/chest request timestamps, request message IDs, approval records, and (for Tavern Guards) moderation stats.
- Other minigames (e.g. Westward Bound, Telekinesis): game state, scores, and progress needed to run those features.
- Vote rewards: if you vote for our server on top.gg, we may record that you claimed a vote reward to prevent abuse.
We do not collect your email, password, payment information, or the content of your private messages outside what Discord provides to the Bot in channels where it is active.
3. How we use information
- To provide game features, leaderboards, achievements, and server-specific tools.
- To prevent abuse (duplicate approvals, vote fraud, etc.).
- To send optional Bot DMs (e.g. crate delivery notices, guard wellness check-ins) where the feature requires it.
- To improve and maintain the Bot.
4. Artwork on the website & in Discord
The player website and Bot embeds may display original artwork (boss illustrations, character art, banners, and similar visuals) to run Community Tower and promote the game.
Showing you these images is part of the service. It does not give you permission to save, republish, or recreate that artwork outside normal personal use of the Bot and site. See our Terms of Service, section 4, for full rules on intellectual property.
5. Where data is stored
Data is stored in a MongoDB database on servers controlled by the Bot operator. Data is kept only as long as needed for the features above or until you request deletion (see Section 8).
6. Inactive servers & public website data
Community Tower data may appear on the public player website (server listings, leaderboards, tower stats, and activity feeds). If a tower server you set up or your personal tower account shows no activity for 90 consecutive days (no builds, boss attacks, or dashboard login on that server), we may remove its public website listing and related display data so the site stays accurate for active communities.
This does not delete your Discord server or in-bot tower data unless you ask us to (see Section 8). We will try to notify the server owner in Discord before removing public website data when we can reach you. If you bring the server back and players return, the tower can be listed on the website again where the feature still supports it.
7. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We use Discord to run the Bot, MongoDB/hosting providers to store data, and top.gg only if you use vote rewards.
8. Your rights & data deletion
You may request access to or deletion of your stored Bot data by contacting the bot owner in The Tavern Discord, or use Export My Data / Delete Account in Community Tower. Deleting data may reset your in-game progress.
9. Children
The Bot is intended for Discord users who meet Discord’s minimum age requirements. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
